Craig Foster é um cineasta sul-africano que ama a natureza. Ama andar por florestas, conhecer animais e, principalmente, ama mergulhar. Durante um desses mergulhos em uma praia próximo de sua casa, ele conhece um polvo com um senso de sobrevivência e inteligência inusitados. Craig, então, decide voltar ao local todos os dias e fazer o animal se acostumar com sua presença ali. Ao longo do tempo, ambos desenvolvem uma convivência pacífica em meio a um belíssimo coral de algas.

“Professor Polvo” é um documentário extremamente simples. Não há fontes nem entrevistas diversas, apenas um individuo contando a sua história de como criou uma amizade inesperada com um polvo. E como esta convivência lhe ensinou bastante sobre a vida e a lidar com alguns de seus problemas pessoais.

Ao longo da narrativa temos imagens belíssimas das vezes em que Craig mergulhava à procura do amigo polvo. Cenas curiosas que nos apresenta um animal extremamente inteligente e a cada instante mais e mais interessante.

A maneira como Craig relata sua aventura é tão cheia de coração, amor e carinho que é impossível não sentir afeto e empatia. É a vida real sentida e vivida com intensidade e fervor, e de onde podemos aprender bastante através de minuciosos detalhes – observar é o segredo.

“Professor Polvo” é uma dessas pérolas que achamos na Netflix. Um filme belo, afetuoso e espirituoso que emociona pela simplicidade de uma história singela e afetiva. Recomendado!
